Mindful
Hello, and welcome! In this post, I’ll be explaining Mindful—the project I built for High Seas—and how four other Hack Club members helped me bring it to life.
So, what is Mindful? It’s your AI Wellness Companion—a compassionate, always-available guide for mental well-being. That’s the exact description from my GitHub account. Essentially, Mindful is an AI therapist. Of course, Mindful was built for educational purposes, so its results aren’t perfect, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. I had the help of four other Hack Club members: AlanDoesCS, EndofTimee, Minglangdu , and TRXAlpha. While I built most of the AI myself, they made important contributions and supported me throughout the process. Without them, the project would have been much more challenging.
For Mindful, I used Nebius to set up a virtual machine with an NVIDIA H100, as training the model would have been impossible without it. Initially, I had two fine-tuned models, but I later removed the second one. After troubleshooting and fixing a few frustrating bugs in the inference code, the model finally ran successfully for the first time. I then spent time testing and tweaking the parameters until I was satisfied with the responses. Here are some of the best (and funniest) results I got after experimenting for a while!
